Accelerate Your Research with Technical In Vivo Services
Developing a team of in vivo specialist in-house takes time away from your research to locate, hire, and onboard the right skill set. The extra headcount is also a cost to maintain, even if you only need part-time support. When conducting your research within CRADL® you have access to on-demand in vivo support services at the facility to help keep your timelines on track.
Whether you just need an extra set of skilled hands for a few weeks or would like us to take on an ongoing support role, the following in vivo technical services can be added as part of your CRADL program. Frequently Asked Questions About CRADL® In Vivo Technical Services
-
What if I only need support for a short time due to a team member's absence?
We can provide in vivo study support and technical services for as little or as long as you need. Simply coordinate with your onsite CRADL® team to schedule services.
-
Can you help with colony development?
Often, studies are delayed because a research animal colony has not been established. If you want to manage your own small colony breeding within your CRADL® holding rooms, our on-site technical services team can support you with combining and separating mating pairs, logging pup births, weaning, sexing, and marking for animal identification. Ask a CRADL® Expert.
If you would like to fully outsource your colony development and breeding management, our Research Models & Services team can take care of that for you and ship your animals directly to CRADL®. Utilizing in vitro fertilization (IVF), our rapid colony development program can take your small colony of animals (as few as two males) and scale up to a cohort of study animals in as little as 12 weeks.
-
Can I expand my rack or room space at CRADL®?
Yes, simply reach out to your onsite vivarium team and let them know when you would like to secure more space for your studies and how many additional racks or rooms you anticipate needing. Contact them as early in advance of your need as possible to ensure we can support your expansion timelines.
-
Can you help with animal laboratory training for our team?
Charles River Campus is an online platform with courses for continuing education, accreditation, and individualized training. Animal research training videos and courses cover topics such as accreditation, leadership, orientation, onboarding, regulatory, and environmental/occupational health and safety courses. View our our training options.
-
What is your commitment to humane care and wellbeing of research animal models?
The humane care and well-being of research animals is one of our core values. Programs undergo continuous review and enhancement to ensure that animal welfare remains a priority through the Humane Care Imperative (HCI), environmental enrichment and behavioral management programs, the 3Rs Global Working Group, and through a continued focus on personnel training.
-
I need help evaluating research models for our studies? Can in vivo technical services help?
If you need established or custom research animal models, or breeding services, we offer a free model evaluation program to help you make the right choice. You may also get in touch with our Research Models & Services team to find out about other products and services to help your research.

Do you offer histopathology and tissue collection?
Yes, we offer these services through our Research Models & Services business. Should your study protocols require pathology support, our ACVP board-certified veterinary pathologists can offer custom protocol design and rapid report turnaround. Our pathology services can be seamlessly integrated into your study design and range from standard tissue collection, histopathology, and microscopic evaluation to a diagnostic assessment of unexplained sick or moribund animals.
-
Can you help me create custom mice or rat models for my study?
Yes. Our transgenic model creation services enable you to begin your research by first creating an animal model that’s customized according to your research needs. Through partnerships with genomics industry leaders, our combined expertise provides an optimal environment for generating, characterizing, and scaling up your transgenic animal line. Once your colony is scaled up, we will seamlessly transfer them to your CRADL® space.
